Five people were recently killed in a wrong-way Louisiana car wreck including two individuals from Baton Rouge. A driver of Jeep Grand Cherokee apparently was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-10 and crashed head-on into another vehicle with four individuals inside.

The accident occurred around 3:00 a.m. and resulted in the closing of the westbound lane for more than 5-hours. The four victims in the one vehicle ranged in age from 19 to 30-years old. The driver of the Jeep has not been identified and authorities are awaiting results of the driver's autopsy before that information is released.

Any number of factors could have contributed to the driver traveling the wrong way, and all of these factors need to be sorted out to determine the actual cause. Obviously, the possibility that the driver going the wrong way was intoxicated will have to be looked into, but that does not mean that other causes should be ruled out. Often a law firm with experience in accident recreation and with the resources to make an accurate determination as to the cause is required to make an independent determination as to how the car accident occurred.

It may be difficult to ultimately determine the cause of such an accident. No matter what steps are taken, these types of accidents are bound to occur. However, the severity of this crash may be indicative that other steps could have been taken to reduce the consequences of such a crash.

Accidents of this type often happen quickly and unexpectedly. Four individuals ages 30, 27, 19 and 20 died as a result of being struck head-on by a wrong way driver. The consequences of such fatal accidents are always devastating.
